ANATOMY OF THE LITE
Frite Lite is assembled from a combination of 3D printed components and off the shelf hardware. A 2700K LED bulb housed within a candelabra base provides the warm internal glow, diffused through translucent resin “fries.” The assembly is secured using fasteners and neoprene locking nuts, with integrated strain relief for safe wiring management.

BEHIND THE BUILD
Frite Lite began as a series of digital studies in Rhino, refining proportions, light diffusion, and structural tolerances before moving into production. Components were fabricated using a combination of FDM and resin 3D printing, followed by sanding, fitting, and finishing to achieve the desired translucency and texture. This section captures the transition from digital model to physical object, the testing, adjustments, and hands-on work that bring the concept to life.

HEAT VENTILATION
Subtle inlet and outlet vents are integrated into the design, allowing cool air to enter through the front emblem and warm air to rise out through the holes inbetween each tasty french fry. The fixture is intended for low heat LED bulbs, ensuring efficient and safe operation.

THE CARRYING CASE
The carrying case was designed as an extension of the fixture rather than an afterthought. Built from pine and fitted with a custom 3D printed contour insert, the enclosure secures the lamp during transport while maintaining the industrial farmhouse aesthetic. Wood components were cut, drilled, and assembled in the workshop, with lasercut pine, 3D printed frame/handle and plexiglass elements forming the slide lid and viewing port. Industrial pipe hardware reinforces the mechanical language of the piece. The result is both protective housing and presentation object - a container that feels intentionally designed for the light it holds.
